Scolaro, Shulman, Cohen, Fetter & Burstein, P.C.’s Healthcare Practice Group is, therefore, one of the oldest established practice groups dedicated exclusively to healthcare related matters.

Scolaro, Shulman, Cohen, Fetter & Burstein, P.C. has one of the largest healthcare practice groups in Central New York. Our attorneys who concentrate their legal practice in healthcare related matters are recognized leaders in the community among other legal professionals as well as by the clients we serve. Healthcare Practice Group News & Events

Client Alert!

On June 12, 2009 the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services ("CMS") released a Change Request outlining recent changes to the Medicare Program Integrity Manual. These changes involve ambulatory surgical center(s) ("ASC(s)") and the newly acquired right to receive reassigned benefits relating to services billed by professional service providers to Medicare. The implementation date is October 5, 2009.

Marc S. Beckman, Michael J. Compagni, Dr. Andrew M. Knoll and Susan Fortin Lesser, spoke at the recent Lorman Seminar "Introduction to the Law Regarding Medical
Records." Dr Knoll spoke on the historical evolution of medical record confidentiality as well as "NY Public Health Law and Specially Protected Information"; Mr. Compagni explained "HIPAA Privacy Regulations"; Mr. Beckman covered the "Office of Professional Medical Conduct and the Medical Practice" and Ms. Lesser detailed "Payor Contracting" issues.

Andrew M. Knoll spoke on "Staying Out of Legal Troubles" at the New York State Academy of Family Physicians Winter Weekend/Scientific Assembly in Lake Placid, NY in January 2007. He will also speak on "Contracting Issues for Hospitalists" for the Hospitalist Conferences USA, Hospitalist CME Series in Boston in March 2007.
